Before your next alarm.
How do I create or change an alarm?
Open the Alarms tab and tap the plus button to create an alarm. Choose its time, repeat days, verse packs, and snooze option, then save. Tap an existing alarm to edit it, or use its switch to turn it on or off.
Allow alarm access when iOS asks. If access is denied, open iPhone Settings, find Shine, and check its alarm permission. Follow any error or retry message shown in the app.
Will a repeating alarm stay on after I stop it?
Yes. An alarm with repeat days stays enabled for its next scheduled day after you stop the current alarm. A one-time alarm turns off once its session ends. To stop future repeats, turn the alarm off or delete it.
How do I adjust the alarm volume?
Wake-up volume is controlled by your iPhone. In iOS 27, open Settings → Sounds & Haptics → Alarms and Timers. Turn off Match Ringtone Volume if you want a separate alarm setting, then adjust the slider. In iOS 26, use Ringtone and Alerts in Sounds & Haptics.
The listening control in Shine’s Volume & Audio screen adjusts media volume for verses played inside the app. It is separate from wake-up alarm volume. Check your alarm volume on your iPhone before relying on a new alarm.
How are the verse and narrator chosen?
Choose a Bible version and narrator in Settings, then save or enable your alarm. Shine selects a recording from that alarm’s available verse packs. Repeating alarms keep their selected recording until you save or enable them again; they do not automatically pick a different recording every day.
To apply a new Bible version or narrator to an existing alarm, save or re-enable that alarm. You can listen to other verses in the Verse packs tab without changing your alarm.
Can I listen to Scripture without setting an alarm?
Yes. Open Verse packs, choose an available pack, and use Listen to browse and play verses. Listening is separate from your scheduled alarms. Access to some packs requires a purchase or subscription.
How do I restore a purchase?
Use Restore Purchases on Shine’s subscription or purchase screen while signed in to the Apple Account used for the original purchase. You’ll need an internet connection to check your purchase status. If access still looks wrong, email us with a description of the purchase and the problem. Do not send payment-card details or your Apple Account password.
How do I cancel a subscription or request a refund?
On your iPhone, open Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Shine, then select the cancellation option. Deleting Shine or emailing support does not cancel an App Store subscription.
See Apple’s subscription cancellation instructions. Refund requests for App Store purchases are handled by Apple; see Apple’s refund instructions.
What should I do if an alarm did not sound as expected?
Check that the alarm is on, its time and repeat days are correct, and Shine has alarm permission. Review your iPhone’s alarm volume and any scheduling error shown in Shine. For a time-critical commitment, use a backup alarm while troubleshooting.
If the problem continues, contact us with the scheduled time, what happened, your iPhone model, and your iOS and Shine versions. The diagnostic attachment available through in-app support can help us investigate.
