How information is handled when you use Shine and this website.
Last updated: October 13, 2026
Your alarms live on your device. Shine does not require a Shine account, and we do not operate a backend that stores your alarms. The app does use third-party services for analytics and purchases. If you email us, we receive the information you choose to send.
1. The basics
Shine is an iPhone app developed by Yariv Adam that plays spoken Bible verses as alarms and for listening. This policy covers the app, our static website, and messages sent to info@shinealarm.com.
There is no registration form or developer-operated online account for Shine. You do not need to give us your name or email address to set an alarm. Apple and the service providers described below handle some information as part of their services.
2. Information on your device
Shine stores alarm definitions and app preferences locally. These include alarm times, repeat days, labels, selected verse packs and recordings, snooze and completion state, Bible version, and narrator choice. Shine also keeps a local diagnostic log to help investigate alarm problems.
iOS handles alarm scheduling and permission. Shine’s recordings are bundled with the app. Shine does not request access to your microphone, camera, contacts, or precise location to provide its alarm and listening features.
Local app data may be included in backups managed by your device or Apple, depending on your settings. The fact that an alarm is stored locally does not mean that all app activity stays on the device; analytics and purchase processing are described next.
3. App analytics
Shine uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used and to improve it. The app records interactions such as opening screens, selecting verse packs, playing verses, using alarm controls, and interacting with purchases.
Some events include a verse reference or selected pack. Analytics properties can include your selected Bible version, narrator preference, and completed-alarm count. These choices may reveal an interest in particular religious content.
Firebase also processes app-instance or device identifiers and technical and usage information, such as device model, operating system, app version, and approximate geography. Shine does not provide an in-app analytics opt-out in the current version.
Google processes this information through its services. See Firebase’s information about collected data and Google’s Privacy Policy.
4. Purchases and subscriptions
Apple processes App Store payments. Shine uses RevenueCat to validate purchases, restore access, and determine which content a purchase or subscription unlocks.
RevenueCat processes purchase history, receipt and transaction information, subscription status, and a randomly generated app user identifier. It also processes technical information, such as device type and operating system. Purchase information is used for reporting about purchases and subscriptions. You do not need to create a RevenueCat account to use Shine. We do not receive your payment-card details.
RevenueCat processes app-user information on our behalf to provide its service; this policy describes our use of that information. See RevenueCat’s privacy information for more about its role. Apple’s handling of your Apple Account and payment information is described in Apple’s Privacy Policy.
5. Support messages and shared content
If you contact us, we receive your email address, your message, and any attachments you send. We use this information to respond, investigate the issue, and keep necessary support records. Our email provider processes those messages to deliver and store them.
The in-app contact option can attach a diagnostic log containing alarm identifiers and timing, time-zone information, permission and system states, and app errors. You can review or remove the attachment before sending. Opening the email draft does not send it automatically.
If you use Share Verse, iOS lets you choose where to send the content. The recipient or app you choose handles the shared information under its own terms and privacy policy. Please avoid sending passwords, payment details, or personal information that is not needed for support.
6. This website
These static pages contain no account system, contact form, analytics scripts, advertising scripts, embedded third-party fonts, or cookies set by the pages. The app’s Firebase and RevenueCat integrations are not embedded in this website.
The website’s hosting provider may process ordinary web-request information, such as your IP address, browser information, requested page, and request time. Access logs may be retained if enabled in the hosting configuration. Clicking an external link takes you to a service with its own privacy practices; clicking an email link opens your email application.
7. Retention, deletion, and your choices
- Local alarms and preferences: you can delete alarms within Shine. Deleting the app removes its local app data from the device, but copies may remain in device backups.
- Support messages: we retain messages for as long as needed to answer your request, resolve related issues, and meet applicable recordkeeping obligations.
- Service-provider information: analytics and purchase records are retained under the applicable service settings and provider policies. Deleting Shine does not automatically erase information already processed by these services.
- Subscriptions: deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Manage subscriptions through your Apple Account.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or restrictions on the use of personal information. Contact info@shinealarm.com to make a request. We will help with information in our control and explain any limits, including records retained by Apple or other providers. You may also have a right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
8. Children’s privacy
Shine is a general-audience app. Please do not send us personal information about a child that is not needed for a support request. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us and would like it removed, contact us so we can investigate and respond.
9. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the app or our information practices change. The date above identifies the latest version. Material changes will be explained through an appropriate notice.
